I have owned a few of these glasses for years and really like them. So I ordered 2 more. And they are completely different glasses. These glasses are twice as light as the old glasses. Look at the picture and you will see that the base is hollow. What can't be said is that the walls are half as thin. These are very thin glasses. They have a slightly more rounded and less angular design. I am not against it. The general shape is similar. But because they removed so much glass, they now hold more whisky. This is bad. The spout at the widest part of the hips of the old design of this glass was 1 1/2 oz, like the traditional Glencairn, perfect. It now holds over 2 1/2 oz. on the hips. That's not Glenkern. They had to rename this new glass. It's very different. And if they wanted to save glass, they should have given it the profile of a Canadian whiskey glass. Then it would not have a hollowed out base and would still hold 1 1/2 ounces. at its widest point. I don't expect thinner walls to survive many toasts or wash cycles.
