The Revain site says it can be used on balconies and patios but the instructions on the box say it is for indoor use only. I put them on the covered porch. Comes with a small roll of double sided tape. Most of them fell in less than 48 hours. Since the sections are running out I'm using Alien Tape and hope it lasts longer. You can use the remote instead of the app, so I didn't even download the app. I love that when you use timers for these and other Christmas lights, when the timer goes off, they light up. I was concerned about having to plug into an always-on outlet and use the app's timer. It was easier for me.
