I bought this item based on the previous reviews and it has a pen. I use this item in the bathroom when we shower. Although it's not silent since we use it in the bathroom, it doesn't bother me. I use this dehumidifier in addition to my bathroom exhaust fan. The vapor rises, the higher you place it, the more water it picks up in my opinion. My kids left it on the floor and no water collected compared to leaving it on the sink countertop. I always leave it on the way after everyone has finished showering. Seems to help but doesn't prevent the bathroom mirror from fogging up when my daughter takes a long hot shower. Honestly, if my bathroom fans can't stop the fog, I can't expect this little machine to outperform bathroom fans. I noticed that there was less humidity in the bathroom.
