This clip-on light makes a very good light source. It has 3 brightness levels that switch when you "touch" the power icon. Since this symbol is not recessed, it is easy to inadvertently change the brightness when moving or adjusting the light. The clamp is fairly solid and has at least a 2" hole, but there are rubber pads on the handles which are actually the base. a little shaky in operation - bad design, IMO. I like the fact that it uses a real AA battery which is easy to replace. Have no idea about the durability of this lamp as I haven't used it that much so far it's functional and good value.
