Review on Tripp Lite Outlet Cabinet PS120420 by Brittany Lawrence

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Robust, well-made 20 A mains filter (quadruple version).

I bought a 4 outlet version of this heavy duty aluminum power strip/surge protector. In my case the 4 socket option didn't come with mounting hardware but socket covers for the plugs you don't want to use. While it's a lot more expensive than any similar surge protector I've bought before, the build quality justifies it. More importantly, 20 amp surge protectors are not easy to find. I have used this for a hair dryer as well as other small bathroom appliances that require 20 amps. I actually installed a suitable 20 amp outlet with a "T-Blade" outlet (neutral pin rotated 90 degrees) under my sink to hide the cords and not wind them up on the counter. (The old outlets above the sink were rated at 15 amps, even though it was the 20 amp circuit common in US bathrooms—at least here in the Pacific Northwest.) The extra-long cord on this unit made it possible for me , to place it directly in the cabinet under the sink, so there was enough latitude when using the hair dryer itself. Now the bathroom looks much neater and tidier. I will be buying a second one as I have already installed another 20 amp outlet under the sink in the other bathroom.
