Review on Kamerar D Fuse Combo Medium Softbox by Matthew Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good, but not deep enough to really control light spread.

Well I'm at the Longview Film Club and we recently used 3 of these on set. We shot at night to make a day car look like a car driving at night. We put them on 3 of the newer RGB lights we had. We wanted to have more control over the direction of the light. The results were good, but not quite what I was hoping for. Just not as directed as I would like. We have other lighted egg crates that work better I think because the mesh is deeper than this one. So I would say it's ok, but not outstanding. Also, we could only tilt the light on the stand by adding a separate tilt head. Of course, the lights have their own tilt, but this product somehow fits all of that and makes it impossible to tilt. It may be that the light that suits him best does not have this problem. So we always think: 1- It's easier to use cine film to control light spread, 2- make sure your light is very close to the recommended size, or add a panner if you have to tilt. Well built and smart, set up quickly.

Pros
  • EASY TO FOLD AND CARRY: Open the D-Fuse softbox and fasten it with the fastening straps to soften the light. You can add straps to all four sides of the back of the softbox to attach to the LED panels
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
