This is AWESOME! They seal perfectly when using a BIC lighter. Simply move the lighter back and forth without staying in one spot for more than a second (similar to sealing heat shrink tubing). I was surprised that the solder ring melted very evenly every time and looked like an experienced weld. It only takes about 4 seconds to swing the lighter's flame before the solder ring melts, so the whole process is much quicker than expected. 1.) Start moving the flame back and forth in the center section until the solder melts. Then let cool for about 10 seconds. 2.) Once the center section has been soldered and cooled you can proceed to seal the two sides. If you don't wait for the solder to cool in the middle, it will remain flexible and soft, and you'll struggle with moving the wire while you work to seal the edges. Summary: I bought it as a joke out of curiosity. I was pleasantly surprised and now consider them indispensable for any future wiring projects in cold regions. I would not use them on motorcycles or in the engine bay next to the engine block.
