💧 TICONN Waterproof Insulated Electrical Connectors Review

To use these, insert a wire, heat to melt the solder ring and squeeze the wrapper. The PROBLEM is applying enough heat to actually melt the solder. The shells have fallen apart and you have a big mess. The idea looked promising but actually I wasted my money and now I have all these useless connectors that can never be used for their intended purpose.

I do a lot of DIY projects for my car, my bike and some home uses. Since I saw this some time ago in a project on the web, I wanted to give it a try. These are wonderful connectors in 4 different colors that will suffice for most of your projects. Heat shrink tubing is easy to use, great quality and really economical! I highly recommend it to those who use connectors very often.

I can't use them in a small space such as B. when gluing a motorcycle rear light to a bicycle; or try to connect 3 wires that are in the same sheath. But for a single wire with good access, this is an elegant solution. Difficult to apply enough heat to melt the solder but not make the heatshrink so thin that it offers minimal mechanical/electrical protection. Small, focused heat sources seem to be more effective than heat guns/hair dryers. I will definitely keep them in my splice kit.

I have worked in electronics manufacturing, troubleshooting and support for over 40 years. First in the aerospace industry and then in commercial electronics. Based on my experience I can tell you this is a great product and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to join wires with minimal tools. They work well enough but I wouldn't consider them a substitute for a proper solder joint. I used a heat gun with a small shrink tip and increased the temperature to around 480F to get adequate solder flow without melting through the tube. The resulting solder joint has wet the copper wire and seems safe. I removed the shrink tubing and cut the connection to see if it got soaked. Did some tests to learn how to use it properly to now fix some of the wires on my truck the squirrel decided to chew on it. They interfere with nest building. Strip the wires, then connect and twist the ends together. for a better connection (advance the wires until they touch each other's plastic and twist them to form a wire). This is AWESOME! They seal perfectly when using a BIC lighter. Simply move the lighter back and forth without staying in one spot for more than a second (similar to sealing heat shrink tubing). I was surprised that the solder ring melted very evenly every time and looked like an experienced weld. I used one size 10-12 resistor and three size 14-16 resistors when I replaced the HVAC fan resistor and resistor harness in my 1988 Ford F250 truck (see photo). After placing ticonn on each wire and then stripping about 5/8" of insulator from the ends of both wires, I twisted the ends together. After moving the ticonn to the connector, I used a heat gun to shrink the tubing. and melt the solder in it. My first reaction when using it is very good.
