I have installed them in reading lamps on swing arms above the bed. The bulbs that came in had thicker wires than these so I had to bend them a bit to keep them in the socket but they seem to work fine. I think if someone shakes the lights they might fall out, but since they aren't hot I'm not too worried. The lights have a switch for bright and dim light. On a low setting, the bulbs flicker slightly, so if brightness is important you can skip it. I don't use this feature and they are fine in bright light. The light isn't as bright as the halogens before it, but the light is a purer white, so acceptable. I would say they look more like a 20w halogen than the 35w halogen in the description. Overall I'm happy with it, but to be honest I might try a different strain next time to see if they darken better.
