Review on OtterBox DEFENDER SERIES SCREENLESS EDITION Case for Samsung Galaxy S10e - BLACK by Nate Mims

Bought for a new Samsung S10E phone. I wanted this model because the smaller size fits better in a pocket or on a running belt. Having recently shattered the screen of a large Note Plus phone, I needed as much protection as possible. This case consists of a two-piece inner shell made of hard polycarbonate plastic and a rubberized, non-slip outer padding layer that stretches over the inner shell. It was very easy to put together and fairly easy to take apart. With other covers I sometimes feel like I'm risking damage if I try to stretch the elastic around the edges. With this Otterbox, the phone simply fits into a hard plastic case that snaps open and then the case, not the phone itself, is inserted into the elasticated outer layer. The phone feels secure and snug in multiple layers. The USB port and headphone jack are covered with hinged covers that stay securely closed but are a bit difficult to open. I assume they will eventually come loose. The case significantly increases the size and weight of the phone. The phone itself is 0.31 inches thick, 2.75 inches wide, 5.6 inches long and weighs 5.6 ounces. The case with the phone inside is 0.6 inches thick, 3.3 inches wide and 6.1 inches long and weighs a whopping 8 ounces. That's the price you pay for exceptional protection. Despite the size and weight, the buried phone feels well balanced and feels good in your hand. One-handed operation is quite difficult. This case previously came with a screen protector, but this version does not. So you have to buy one if you need it. The S10E came with a screen protector installed, but it started bubbling up on first use and would need something more substantial to meet my needs. The fingerprint sensor is located on the power button and has an access hole. This works well, but sometimes it takes a few tries to read properly. It's as well protected as it gets and still usable. The remaining buttons are completely covered by the case. The price at Revain was $17.75. The price at Best Buy is $60. This case serves its purpose well, which is to provide maximum physical protection for the phone (though without the screen protector). This adds bulk and weight, which may not be desirable.
