Review on πŸ“ StarTech.com USB 3.1/eSATA Drive Docking Station for 2.5"/3.5" SATA Drives - External USB 3.1 (10Gbps) Hard Drive Dock with UASP Technology (SDOCKU313E) by Matt Mix

Works best via USB in computers and accessories

Firstly, this is a working dock, but there is an issue with the included power adapter that doesn't really put out 24w, or devices need more than 24w to work. I've had issues with this and other StarTech docks where with prolonged use they will eventually try to draw too much current and shut down - a workaround is to use a 2.5A or 3A 12V power supply to use (I took 12V 3A from an unused one). external hard drive enclosure). In any case, the USB to SATA bridge they use seems to be supported pretty well. and it works on both Windows and Linux. smartctl could interact with disks with `-d sat`. It can be used to transfer a disk to Hyper-VI, finally managed to do a small endurance test. With this 12V 3A power supply, I've had no trouble fully formatting a 4TB drive - no dropouts or failures after hours of continuous use.
