This mug has a flat metal base that works with coffee warmers allowing this product to work as advertised. However, due to the fact that the cup is very heavy, it will likely take most of the time your coffee is empty to get very hot unless you drink coffee in small batches. Until then, you must turn off the heating pad. According to other reviewers, the grip is awkward in shape and position. If you're careful and don't mind a flimsy beaker, one of the glass measuring cups will work much better - less heat glass and just as good a seal with a warmer and much more comfortable grip. (The one I bought is Lautechco's Food Grade High Borosilicate Glass Teapot and Measuring Cup (500ml).)
