The lids are solid white, not translucent, which is what I expected, not flashy. The glass appears to have a milky tint that is as indelible as the foil. I have hand washed and washed in the dishwasher and cannot remove the tint. I had to wash several times to remove the film. I've used them successfully with cold water and room temperature water.
