Review on 🏃 Enhance Your Workout with the Garmin Forerunner 301 GPS Personal Training Device by Corey Milton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is the cornerstone of my workout tracking.

I bought it in 2006, still works very well. locations into a GPX file and upload it to Google Earth or another mapping system. Lots of storage. I have never lost a workout on the device because it has enough memory to store workouts back to 2006. - Ability to export workouts to a new Garmin device THEN sync to Garmin Workout Center to view your workout history over the years. I like it very much - Virtual Partner! I love this feature. Essentially, set time and distance goals, and the screen will display your location versus your virtual partner so you'll know if you're doing well enough. With the Workout Center software, you can see where you've been, your speed, elevation, heart rate, distance, and other performance metrics on a map. I love finishing a killer workout and thinking about it at the computer to see what I can improve or even bring to the table. - Listen to frequency signals so you know if you're going to sag or die if you don't slow down a bit. Cons: - The USB connector's rubber plug was poorly designed and fell off almost immediately - Satellite sync was sometimes slow. The problem may be with the GPS satellite infrastructure and not the device. Accuracy can be a bit questionable over a 1/4 mile range, and breadcrumbs (the points where the device marks your location) can be hundreds of feet away, reducing accuracy. .Feature Request: - Let me set it up from my PC when it's connected. There are many features that can be adjusted on the small screen with a deep menu system - Bluetooth pairing with my phone when my heart rate stops it calls the paramedics with my GPS location. That would be a great security feature. All in all, this is a great little GPS for tracking your workout history. Actually I have since upgraded to a newer model and gave it to a friend but the new ones are similar but more accurate.

Pros
  • Continuous monitoring of heart rate, speed, distance,
Cons
  • High price
