I feed my dogs and cats premium foods including Honest Kitchen, Tiki Cat and ACANA. I try to take turns, especially for my cat who has skin allergies and can be fussy. She loves Tiki Kat, but lately she's been hard to come by. I saw an ad for Open Farm and decided to give it a try based on their food quality and sourcing claims. I bought chicken and salmon recipes and three broths. Upon opening the chicken, I noticed the texture was very soft, unidentifiable bits of chicken, egg, or other ingredients like Tiki's cat. My cat showed no interest in the chicken recipe even though chicken is one of her favorite dishes. I opened the chicken broth and noticed that it had almost no color or smell. Again, my cat, who is usually a big broth lover, wanted nothing to do with it. The reaction to the salmon recipe was almost as bad. She only ate it if I didn't feed her for a few hours, preferring her acana cod recipe. Decided to give away leftovers. The company asked for my review and I gave an honest review. They then contacted me and said it was too late for a refund (which I didn't request). I thought I was done with Open Farms until last week when I got another assignment for the same thing. I didn't know I was signed up for a subscription. Other companies I subscribe to send a warning email before each delivery, but Open Farm doesn't. You sent a notification AFTER the food was shipped. I contacted them immediately and asked to be able to cancel all subscriptions and return the food as my cat hates it. It took several days before I received an answer. The food has arrived and is sitting on my counter while I await return instructions. Rather than issue a refund, the company wants me to take the time to donate it to an animal shelter, get a receipt, and then mail the receipt to them for a refund, or the food to them at my own expense send back to Canada. I work 80 hours a week and since I've made it clear to them that my cat is not interested in their food and I wasn't aware that they signed me up for a subscription, I feel like their policy is designed to help people include in subscriptions they don't need and avoid refunds to save people money. Beware of contacting this company. Their product is far inferior to other premium foods in my experience, and their policy is to make a quick buck, not maintain good customer relationships.
