Review on 🚤 Carbhub 18-7350 Fuel Pump for Johnson Evinrude 397839 391638 395091 397274: Reliable Replacement for Seahorse Outboard Engines 1981-1992 by Matt Crawford

I took it out of the box and replaced the backplate with the original one from my Evinrude 15 HP. I carefully reassembled it and watched a few tutorials on YouTube to ensure proper assembly. It did not work. After many hours of frustration, I found that one of the small valves inside was not working. I was trying to fix the problem as one of the springs was pinched and engaged (manufacturing issue). It still didn't work. So I took it apart, put all the seals and new springs in my old pump, and the old pump ran like clockwork after that (blow on the inlet and it should sound like a horn, and the outlet should be stiff when properly adjusted ). Luckily the spacers and springs fit perfectly; The pump itself is broken. Save yourself the hassle and buy either a rebuild kit or a Sierra pump. You will do it anyway.
