hey. that's a catch. How difficult is it to verify something like this? "They're not stainless steel, but it looks like they could be. Whatever finish was on them, it never came off or rusted. I use them for the luggage net hooks on my bike. They are also the gear hooks on the racks in my wire rack in the garage. I have a black powder coated version from the same supplier and switched to this as the powder coating on the other version flakes off under heavy use. The smooth metal surface of these uncoated hooks responds well to rubbing against painted surfaces. The black powder coated version will scrape the paint off the luggage net under tension, while they don't seem to. I'm not saying they won't, but that's how it has been for me so far. You are really strong. I've never bent one without intentionally doing it with pliers.
