I live in an old house built in 1867. I've rented it for the last 20 years and now I've finally bought it and wanted to check the condition of the sockets throughout the house. I replaced 1 other outlet in the house about 8 years ago, the rest of the wiring and outlets are very old. I went around the house, unplugging everything from every outlet before testing, and testing it on every outlet. I really expected to see some orange light results. Every socket in the house except 1 gave a green result and most burned 7-8. Just one container tested gave me 7 greens at the bottom outlet and then 5 oranges at the top. However, I repeated the test 3 times and each time there were 6-7 greens. I even came back to it later and repeated it a few more times with the same result of 6-7 greens. So it looks like my outlets are in surprisingly good condition for their age. It comes with small sheets of red, orange and green stickers with small dots. It doesn't really say it, but I suspect the idea is that when reviewing outlets, you can tag them with a matching colored results sticker to be able to quickly indicate which ones need extra attention. Aside from sockets, this should also be useful for checking extension cords.
