Review on Samsung Galaxy Watch Active (40mm) US Version - GPS Bluetooth Smartwatch with Fitness Tracker and Sleep Analysis in Black by Daniel Aboubakar

So I think it's almost perfect

I've had a Gear Fit2 since June 2016 and wanted to upgrade it. I saw the flashy event Samsung had for it in February 2019 and should have gotten it. My biggest reason (besides the fact that the Gear Fit2 will inevitably die) was the aesthetic upgrade. Gear Fit2 was very much like "Hey, I'm wearing a fitness watch!" with its long, rectangular curve partially encircling the wrist. Samsung Galaxy Active says "Hey, I'm wearing a watch!" Coming from the Gear Fit2, I see all of its fitness-focused features built into the new Galaxy Active, and yet it still manages to be smarter and better. look generally. The look of the watch is sleek and discreet, the screen itself is great, the materials feel premium, the fit and feel is spot on for me, the watch wakes up from inactivity faster, it's easy and intuitive to navigate and set up . This is an update in every way. At first I had an issue where the heart rate monitor wouldn't turn off even when I said "Auto HR" to "Never" - but I found out it was because of the new Stress app (by default the watch has Auto Stress Settings set to "Always" - do yourself and your battery a favor and turn this feature off). Now the heart rate sensor (very bright green light under the watch flashing rapidly) only turns on every 10 minutes (common setting under Auto HR). I hope my opinion doesn't change over time because I've definitely gotten the "5-star" feeling :-D

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • No paint required
