I needed a thermometer to use while cooking on my smoker to replace one that was no longer working. I like this one because it's well made and seems pretty solid. It's also waterproof, which is great if you're cooking outside. It has a nice big clear digital display and is easy to hold in hand and store in the garage (I can hang it on a ring). I also like that it turns on and off automatically when you extend the probe. It's all self-contained, so no small parts (like the probe cover) can get lost. So far I've used it when cooking hamburgers, pork chops and chicken and it's worked well - the readings are fast, stable and seem accurate from my experience to date. Another neat thing about it is the bright orange highlights, making it easy to spot on a crowded canvas! This is a very useful cooking tool for money.
