Recirculation damper for 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

To start with I just installed it so can't comment on durability and have no issues at the moment. When I received the door it came with the door, a metal connector to attach to the drive and foil tape. There was a metal connector attached to the faucet door and I tugged on it to see if it came loose. He stood firmly at the door. Since I couldn't quite remember how the build was put together since the last time I installed the MOPAR replacement, I went further by removing the under-dash fan. The glove box needs to be removed (open it and gently push the back of the sides and it comes out). You will also need to remove the actuator that is on top of the channel. After the drive is removed, there is a plastic plug in the door opening that must be removed and discarded (replaced with a metal plug). Install the door where the fan was removed after removing the old door and broken parts. With the door in place and ready to insert the drive-side metal connector, turn the key to ensure the drive is in the correct position and find which way the door should be facing (at recirculation mode this will be the case). the opening on the back must be covered if the opening on the front has to be closed during normal operation). The answer is that it will come loose, sometimes there is a burr on the piece that makes it difficult to separate. I removed it with a vise and pulled on the door in line with the connector to minimize side loads on it. It just seemed to let go and then move back and forth freely. On my 06 Ram 1500 these parts should be separate, check on your specific vehicle after disassembly as yours may not need it. I dont know. Foil tape isn't for me, but maybe for you. Given that the original MOPAR part was plastic and I replaced it with a refurbished plastic part and it still broke in the same place, I'd say it should last the rest of the truck's life.
