I have installed three of these cat doors throughout my home and really appreciate the simple design that allows it to be mounted in any material up to 1.75 inches install thick. placed one in a sheet metal screen door (mostly 0" thick), a 1.375" inner door, and a 1.75" outer door. It works great and looks great in all three situations. Please note that the screws provided will only fit a 1.375" thick door (most interior doors). For a thinner or thicker surface you need different devices. The locking mechanism does the job but is quite difficult to operate compared to other doors with a twist lock knob.
