Review on 🥾 Exploring the Outdoors with Columbia Men’s Redmond V2 Waterproof Hiking Boot by Ronggolawe Denney

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great shoes (was) for men

Very comfortable from the start, seems sturdy and well made. I called Columbia customer service to file a warranty claim and found out a few things that to some extent mitigate the limited warranty options. I have been told that if the shoes are defective and I elect to take out a company loan I will be compensated at "market value”. I asked what that meant and the company rep asked for specific identifying information on the size tag on the sneakers. I was expecting a token gesture at best, but she said I would get a loan of about $80 plus compensation for the shipping costs I would incur to ship it back to the company. She explained that they don't offer exchanges because they can't be sure they have an identical replacement in stock. All in all it's actually a reasonable warranty process as long as they agree with me that the sole coming off the shoe is a defect and go by what the company rep told me. I'll post again after I get the shoes back so everyone knows what happened. If all goes well, I'll probably raise my rating back to three stars. 08/12/2021 second update: Downgrading my rating to one star. The sole of another shoe came off today. I went to the Columbia website to make a warranty claim. I noticed two things. First I have to pay to send them the shoes - not really surprised by that but still not happy about it. You should be willing to refund the shipping cost if the product is indeed defective but it is not. Second, if they cannot fix the shoes, the only option you have is to get a company loan (no indication of how much or how it will be determined) or return the shoes to you with no compensation or adjustment. There is no return or replacement option. In general, a really weak pseudo-guarantee very much aimed at the company. Update 07/07/2021: Well, I'm not much more than to give my glowing review after three months of use when the rubber outsole on the toe of my right boot started to separate. I called Columbia and technically they're still under warranty, but according to a CS rep it will take "two to three weeks". Check my claim after they send the shoes back (shipped at my expense). Considering the cost and the time I would be without running shoes I decided to just try gluing the soles myself. If that doesn't help, I'll send them back under warranty. I am changing my rating from 5 to 3 stars.
