I chose size XL because most gloves I buy/get fit me but the fingers are too short for my husband. This pair of beautiful cowhide leather gloves have longer fingers and a wider palm so they fit him very well. I (and I usually wear large gloves) have 1/2 to 1 inch extra length on each finger. The palm area is nicely padded and each piece is neatly stitched and double stitched. He'll use them to install fiberglass panels and insulation to keep the fibers off his hands, so calorific value doesn't matter much.
