I have a bay window with a wide inner frame, but the outside edges are that awful, intricately carved wood - you just can't hang a form rod on it. Instead, I use what looks like a shower tension rod, but since it's almost 7ft long I don't trust the tension to hold the rod in place, so I used these two plastic cups as a backup - and they work great (I've used them in closets before). One cup is fully recessed and the other has only half a rim so you can dip your rod in - works great. You should know that an old man came up with this idea in the 19th century and it's still being used!
