I bought it silver gray my hair is dyed purple to silver ombre. I know it says not to dye it, but I had no intention of using hair dye. What I did worked very well. I have Rit dye for synthetics. I submerged the whole bottle in about two liters of water with a teaspoon of dish soap. Heat it to 210F and immerse it for 30 minutes. Then I rinsed it in Downey Lavender. And it turned out great! When you do this, make sure the free end of the hair is tied with an elastic to keep it from tangling and loosely braid the ponytail to wrap it around the hair. I am so happy with the result. The dark stripe in my photo is a tail that can be wrapped around a pony. I didn't braid it, and it got tangled, so I suggest braiding it.
