My son loves maki rolls so I thought this would be something fun we could experiment with in the kitchen. I was drawn to this one because it is wooden and well built. Many maca makers are made out of plastic. It was pretty easy to use. Make sure you use real sushi rice and not regular rice. We started with cooked shrimp with spicy mayonnaise and scallions. I wasn't confident enough about making raw fish rolls until I tried it successfully. We got the ingredients: shrimp, spicy mayonnaise, cucumber, avocado, nori, sushi rice (boiled, chilled and mixed with rice vinegar, some oil, salt and sugar) and followed the instructions. They came out great and my 11 year old was able to easily make the futomaki rolls (outside of nori). The rice will be a bit firmer on the outside, but only if you use too much rice. I can only recommend this roller manufacturer!
