I'm not an electrician but I can tell the difference between white wire, green wire and black wire. After reading the instructions, all I needed was a flathead screwdriver and wire strippers. I cut off the damaged end of my 125v extension cord, stripped the wires as instructed, put the wires in the colored holes and tightened the screws. The plug is good quality, made in Taiwan and now I have an LED to tell me the power is on. The connector conforms to NEMA 5-15 and UL standards, is moisture and chemical resistant, and has a large diameter.
