Works better than I thought.

I've been doing electrical work for 20 years. Never knew about this case. I wasn't too bad. What is that? Ball chain and magnet on the wire. Very easy. How it works? Like magic. Seriously can't recommend it enough. If you need to catch wire in cavity walls, just buy it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Slightly torn

worth its weight. Electrical

I've been using this or similar at work for years. Eventually I had to replace mine and the hook has added value. If you're trying to trap cords in walls, closets, etc., this is one of those things that you might not always need, but if you do, it will save your ass! That saves time, that's money, and that makes it priceless. The chain isn't heavy duty, but you can use it to set a heavier string if your situation calls for a lot of tension. In most cases this is all you need.

I can't believe I've lived without this tool for so many years!

This is a must-have tool for anyone wiring or working on cars. This single tool has found more use in my home than any other tool. I use this for everything. Extension magnets are great for straight pulls, but that doesn't seem to be the case. This allows you to bend the cable and bring it to hard-to-reach places. Drop the chain and pull. I bought a pair of scissors and keep them at home so I don't have to go far for them. The best invention!

Truly the best deal in electronics

This is by far the best flexible magnet ever made. I was first introduced to wet noodles while working as a home security installer and didn't realize how amazing this particular product was until I tried other brands. This magnet twists the ball chain well so it can be easily pulled through a 3/8 inch diameter hole, while other manufacturers' magnet poles tend to be misaligned causing the chain to wrap around the outside of the magnet, which is what in turn pulls the circuit away from the…

For Structured Cabling Engineers, Electricians, and Security Installers

When you need to run any cable (except fiber) through a wall, this is a must-have tool. I also have fiberglass rods and fishing line but this is definitely a must have for certain scenarios. If you don't know how to do this, you either drill a small hole in the wall high up, or go into the attic and drill a hole in the wall; Then pass the chain through the hole. At the other end, where the wire will end, drill another hole and use the magnet to pull the chain through; Then attach the cable to…

Simple and effective wire fishing tool

This is one of the best tools. If you've ever run wires through walls (speaker wire, CATV wire, power cord, etc.), this tool will help you avoid poking through a wall (out of desperation). I actually read about this concept of flexible chains and wire fishing magnets and made a homemade design using this concept (magnet from front of fridge + chain from wife's jewelry box) before purchasing this set. My homebrew worked, but it was pretty clumsy. With this set it is very easy and uncomplicated…

Secrets of craftsmanship

I am a professional installer and I have been using this device for almost 10 years. This is one of the main tools I use. So many customers are amazed at how easy it is to pull wires through a wall with this device. Just note that the chain pulls wires through walls, but isn't actually strong enough to pull wires through walls. Also, a flexible magnetic tool will wear out if you bend it over and over again. Be careful with it and don't over bend it. TIP: Using some duct tape, attach a 2-foot…

What you need for difficult wire fishing

This tool is amazing. You can make a tiny bend near the head, just a little, then feed it through two ceiling joists until it meets the third, then straighten it a little further to reinforce the bend in the head, pull it in a little and twist it. , the curvature in the head forms an arch that helps to find a metal chain that can be passed through two beams on the other side. Screwed fiberglass rods were used for extension. The magnetic tip on fiberglass rods works great with metal chains. I…

Ignore the bad reviews, you need one of these if you are.

Ignore the bad reviews, you need this when you're fishing through walls. Yes, they DEFINITELY break. But I've been doing side electrical work for 12 years and I'm only on my third. This is much more useful than a straight or inflexible magnet as you can bend around the wall to get to the chain. A few tips: Don't pull the chain too hard. It breaks if pulled too hard. Use the chain to pull the rope through, THEN use the rope to pull the wire through. Do not bend the magnet abruptly or repeatedly…
