I installed four 24" headlights and one 18" headlight and I love how they work. It remains to be seen whether they will last the specified 50,000 hours. If the lights were on all the time, 50,000 hours would mean 5.7 years. If they were 1/3 of the time then they should last for 17.1 years. I felt the installation should have gone much more smoothly. The first major hurdle was removing the LED assembly from the case. Since I failed, I call the customer service number. Even with their help, I was never able to remove it. Finally, a customer service rep suggested an alternative way and I'll include my description of what worked for me. To remove the LED: Hold the device with the back against your body and the power button on the right side. Notice the four tabs holding the LED module in place. Use both hands with thumbs on the back of the device and fingers behind the LED strip. Starting at the right or left end, draw your fingers toward the body. This allows you to detach the edge of the LED module from the bar. The question arises whether consumer testing was carried out before the product was placed on the market. Before removing the plastic diffuser, pay attention to its orientation as it can be confusing once installed under a cabinet. Also, when replacing a diffuser, make sure you're pulling it towards you rather than pushing it away from you. If you push instead of pulling, the entire unit can detach from the cabinet. The overall design differs slightly from the fluorescent lighting used in the past. Looks like GE missed the opportunity to completely redesign the device. Two or four external eyelets with pre-drilled mounting holes are fine since the device is hidden in the bottom of the cabinets. Instead of making electrical connections inside the device, make them outside the device. Install an electrical plug that the owner installs for house wiring; This plug then fits into the factory socket. Thus, the device does not have to be disassembled to install it in a cabinet. 24 inch devices have electrical cutouts in the middle. 18-inch devices do not have a center connector; bad design!
