Review on 🔧 Dorman 264-965 Engine Valve Cover for Compatible Models by Thimothy Purnell

I was concerned that this Dorman part had not been updated to fix excessive oil consumption and smoke on start up. After speaking directly to Dorman, they assured me that this is an updated part. This part is made in China where the original GM part was made in Mexico. It took less than 30 minutes. The GM dealer retail price for this valve cover is about $150, and with my store discount it was still $115. Buying from Revain was easy. No smoke on start and excessive oil consumption stopped. We drove to Las Vegas this spring, drove about 4,000 miles and used 3 quarts of oil in the process. The high engine speeds and the heavy load on the engine simply sucked the oil through the baffle plate in the valve cover. Problem solved! I must say the LS engine has been completely overhauled and only revs at 40,000 rpm; I was concerned that the engine had a problem with the valve guide seals, or maybe an oil scraper ring problem, but not just the valve cover. Simple solution!
