Two adjustable ends - what a pain!

No matter how I attached these clips, the buckle always ended up on the edge of the suitcase, causing the strap to 'bite' and stretch fully, so I carried a second bag. I ended up having to tweak it by attaching different buckles together. The problem is that both ends are adjustable so one side always pops out all the way if you don't want it. There should be a sewn-in clip on one end and an adjustable one on the other.
