So far so good

Just bought this but so far it's working fine. The box arrived rather shabby and unsealed, but the system looks whole and untouched, and the firmware isn't very fresh. So I'm hoping it was just there for a while to make the box look like this and not been refurbished or used as I had paid for a new one. In terms of system performance, it's a shame that Sony no longer supports the Vita, so the PS store is pretty pathetic. There aren't many games on offer at any one time, and in most cases there isn't a great selection of quality games, and it's not very easy for me to find what interests me. But I'm mostly interested in physical games, so it doesn't matter. My main criticism is with the management. It feels like a system made for children's hands as it is very awkward to grab to play a complex game like FPS. It's not well designed in terms of controls. Although I got this mainly for playing visual novels, it's not that big of a deal to me. This doesn't affect my main use of the system, but makes it less desirable for general games (which require fast and complex controls) that I might try. I'd love to see Sony port some of the Vita exclusive games that are hugely popular on PS4, like Persona 4 or the game Uncharted. The PS4 controller is great. I do not know. I'm only in my 30s, but lately I've noticed that my hands just can't handle tiny handheld consoles like they used to, even on my 3DS (and don't tell me how awful Joy is from Switch is). there are disadvantages). But in the case of the Vita, I really think part of the problem is the inclusion of those little analog sticks. Especially on the right side. It really puts me off using real buttons, and to switch from buttons to joystick you have to shift your entire grip to the machine. And since I like to hold it in front of my face (instead of looking at it), it really doesn't work very well. All in all a good system that looks great, but if you don't have small hands and/or don't want this thing practically sitting on your lap while gaming, it might just live up to your expectations.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
