Revainrating 4 out of 5

Mild Flavor Vegan Protein Powder Only Contains 1 Organic Ingredient

Ingredients: Pea Protein Isolate, Organic Hemp Protein, Alkalized Cocoa Powder, Sacha Inchi Protein, Natural Flavor, Crushed Chia Seeds, Stevia Leaf Extract, Salt, Chewing Gum, Spirulina, Seaweed Powder, Dulsa Powder. This 1-pound container of protein powder provides 15 servings, or 20 grams of protein each. The 30 gram scoop that comes with this product contains 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of this protein powder.PROS1. This vegan protein powder mixes well with no lumps just by whisking with a whisk.2. It has a mild, harmless taste that can be drunk by mixing it with plain water. It's flavored with cocoa powder and stevia to balance out the flavor of various ingredients that aren't very tasty on their own, like pea protein, spirulina, seaweed powder, and dulsa powder. When I add this protein powder to my morning smoothie, the flavor doesn't overpower the fruits and veggies in the smoothie.3. The predominant protein in this product is pea protein and secondarily hemp protein. The manufacturer did a good job of masking the flavor of the pea protein, as pea protein itself tastes awful. Surprisingly, the product description on Revain for this product doesn't trumpet that it contains sacha inchi, chia seeds, spirulina, seaweed powder, or dulse powder. That's actually a positive, as the product label states that the amount of these ingredients in this protein powder is clearly minimal. According to the FDA, food manufacturers must list all ingredients in foods on the label, in order of precedence, with the ingredients in the highest quantity used first, followed in descending order by the ingredients in the smallest quantity. "Buzz." Since sacha inchi protein is the fourth most common protein used simply as a flavoring agent, after cocoa powder, I believe this product does not contain enough protein to provide the touted health benefits of this food (see below for more information). ). to Sasha Inchi). The same goes for chia seeds, spirulina, seaweed powder, and dulsa powder. Since chia is listed after natural flavor and spirulina, seaweed and dulsas are listed last on the product label under salt, which is hopefully included in absolutely minimal amounts as there is no reason for it to be in the product. In general, these ingredients do not need to be considered when deciding the potential health benefits of this product. The price of this product is not cheap, but it is in line with the cost of most other vegan protein powders these days. AGAINST 1. Only one ingredient is organic, hemp protein.2. This protein powder comes in a thick plastic container. Despite claims that plastic is recyclable, less than 9% of plastic produced in the US is actually recycled. There is no good reason why this product couldn't be packaged in a biodegradable, resealable kraft bag rather than a plastic container. ABOUT SACHA INCHIN Nutritional Facts: 1 ounce of these seeds contains over 8 grams of protein and nearly 3 grams of fiber. The fat it contains is unsaturated. They contain phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium and zinc as well as various antioxidants. Sasha Inchi has recently gained prominence as one of the latest in a long line of healthy foods dubbed "superfoods." The botanical name is Plukenetia volubilis. This perennial plant is native to South America and the Caribbean. Like the pomegranate fruit, it is known for its large, edible seeds. It was traditionally eaten by the indigenous peoples of Peru and for this reason is sometimes referred to as mountain peanut or Inca nut. The seeds are traditionally eaten roasted rather than raw, which brings good luck. Raw, these seeds contain antinutrients and alkaloids. (Antinutrients interfere with the body's absorption of micronutrients, and alkaloids are protective compounds in plants that protect them from attack by predators. Each of these substances can be harmful to health in large amounts.) Roasted seeds can either be eaten whole or ground into a fine powder, such as it is contained in this product. The oil from these seeds is also often extracted and used in food or skin care products. The leaves of the sacha inchi plant are also dried and brewed into a herbal tea.
