Regular uncoated pizza stones can absorb oils and fats from anything cooked on them. This beautifully crafted pizza stone has a smooth non-stick coating that resists soaking and makes it easy to clean. However, using a pizza cutter or cleaning this stone with scouring pads and/or detergents may damage the surface. All I have to do is lift a freshly made pizza off this stone onto a cutting board before slicing it. In recent years I've become a big fan of baking on pizza stones, especially bread, because I get baking results. This stone gives me great cooking/baking results without the use of non-stick sprays and cleans up easily in hot, soapy water with a sponge or soft washcloth. While this brick is too big to fit in my heavy duty convection oven, it is perfect for the gas oven in my RV and of course a full size 30 inch range or wall. oven at home. This stone arrived undamaged, well packaged in bubble wrap. It's a good size and weight for most dishes, and judging by the label it's made in the USA, so it's easy to recommend.
