Review on Kinetic Classicor Stainless Whistling Kettle by Kassie Gauthier

"Burn " test failed.

Seemingly perfect teapot - it has everything I need. Then one day I left the kettle on the stove and forgot about it. I am scattered and have always christened my teapots this way at least once. Usually stainless steel (and even cheap aluminum) kettles will survive at least one fire. I've had kettles that have survived for over 10 years. This one is blown like all the others when I have them. While the handle and top handle didn't melt (which some fairly expensive kettles did), they bulged and bubbled. Bad enough, but this kettle had a brand new and annoying problem. Normally stainless steel is cleaned with a Brillo sponge. You burn it, clean it inside and out, and you're done. It had some sort of aluminum plate (for more even heating) that would corrode when burned. I could not clean it to a steely sheen; it stayed black and burned. Worse, when I poured boiled water out of it, after a major cleaning, it came out BROWN. This is not combustion residue - I have cleaned it several times. Something got into the water and turned it brown. That might explain why I felt sick yesterday. I drank a cup of tea and didn't notice what was pouring out of the kettle. So, accidental overheating and the kettle is garbage. My advice: choose something 100% stainless steel and forget the aluminum plate.

Pros
  • Suitable for all hob types including induction.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
