I use them for cooking (by cooking I mean putting the meat in a pot of water and turning on the heat until done). I have some old pots and the lids suck. Water and steam seep in during 'cooking', causing a mess on the stovetop (resulting in family members getting ears). I remembered seeing something like these caps on an episode of Shark Tank. I decided to buy them in part because of the design (they have form and function). The colorful presentation of the lids makes them the perfect addition to the kitchen. I have a fairly large "cooking pot" so I use a red lid. After the first use I was not disappointed. He did it like a champ. Nothing spatters or splatters, even when I'm impatient and turn on a very high fire to "cook" faster. Each lid has a convenient vent that allows steam to escape when positioned correctly. It's amazing. Now I don't have to hear anyone contacting me about the condition of the oven. I am completely satisfied.
