I cut each custom bookmark that I make to length. A few beads and/or charms at each end add a nice weight to them. My bookshelves look like a jeweller's shop with rhinestones and pearls and above all my old favorites peep out, which I still can't part with. I like the waxed linen cord best. It doesn't leave marks on my best books, and the bookmark doesn't distort pages like crochet bookmarks do. A big plus is the limitless range of colors and styles to draw from. Quick and charming gifts, and if you're giving away books, it's a nice touch. There's a slight learning curve, but it's easy and very rewarding in the minutes it takes. Be nice.
