Be careful and look for non-perpendicular corner defects!

Very strong and heavy. I bought 11.25" mahogany boards that look great on these mounts. Before attempting to affix and mark lines on the wall when using a single bracket, I noticed that it slopes a bit at the front edge, which is a problem for a shelf to keep things from rolling down the slope and forward. The metal brace itself wasn't perfectly square, so I figured I'd have to "raise" the leading edge by putting some shims at the lowest attachment point. I had yet to do that, or I could put something under the tree in front, but then the tree didn't fit snugly against the bracket. There were 4 brackets in the kit and in my photos you can see the angle opposite the square bracket. My decision? Luckily there were 2 non-square ones and 2 more regular ones. I made two shelves so I left the good (good) brackets as one pair and the bad (good) pair for the other shelf - I ended up adding a few extra washers to that shelf. If you don't realize this prior to installation, you are bound to have uneven shelves, especially if you're just nailing them to the wood and not screwing the shelves to the underside of the brackets. Screwing it in might help, but that uneven defect might trick anyone who's worked so hard into doing a straight install. huge headache.
