Yes, this does make a great wedding dress!

I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase. After getting engaged and doing the whole bridal shop thing, I was tired of being assaulted with run-of-the-mill, overpriced dresses I'd only wear once. I mean, sure, you want to look amazing on your wedding day, but the price tag to the *truly* amazing dresses was more than a little disheartening. Plus, because our wedding was going to be across the pond, I needed my dress to fold down neatly so I could travel with it. I was wary about getting something online, because I didn't want the dress to look cheap, so I ordered it waaay in advance so I could have a backup plan if it didn't work out.I have some curves, and I'm tall, so that made it even more difficult to find a suitable dress, especially one that wasn't made to order. But this was absolutely perfect. I'm usually a 12 but ordered a 14 just in case, and it felt like it was made for me. The only "flaw" was a tiny snag in the netting under an arm, but it wasn't even visible in photos and isn't the kind of material to unravel. Being 5'11" I was terrified the hem wouldn't be long enough, but I wore flats and it just brushed the ground. I didn't want to leave the top part see-through (church wedding and all), so I matched the dress to thick off-white (the dress is ivory) material with a little stretch, traced the dress on the back side of wrapping paper for a pattern, added a seam allowance, and made a full-body slip to go underneath. There's a flimsy little "slip" built in that went about half-way down my thigh, so I just took that out and essentially had two pieces: the slip I sewed, and then the dress over the top.I got so many compliments on this dress. It didn't look any cheaper than most wedding dresses do up close, and the gold and white is gorgeous. When I told people afterward how much I'd paid for it, they almost didn't believe me. I know I altered it, but for the price tag this dress is simply unbeatable. I'd definitely consider getting another in a different color for future events.tl;dr -- if you're tall and have some basic sewing skills, this can make a show-stopper of a wedding dress.
