Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good block but I recommend a change when installing

short story. I had to return the first one because the bracket that connects the supply hose to the junction box broke. Got a quick replacement from Revain, had no problems shipping the old one. Got the second block. Not broken. Built-in block. (Disclaimer here - they're not difficult to install, especially if you're replacing an existing unit. But if you can't figure out how to connect the unit, call the HVAC company to install it for you, it's worth it don't burn your house down) After wiring everything up, I put the insert and panel back onto the base/shell. I carefully inserted the feed tube into the dispensing tray and gave it a gentle push to see how it "give" when I put the front cover on. "She" succumbed. and by IT I mean the stupid junction box. It cracked in the same spot where the first one I got broke. This leads me to believe the first block was a return from another setup where it broke. Leads me to believe that this is a weak point and likely a manufacturing/design flaw. My decision. So mine is very cracked. If it moves at all, it will most likely break completely (like the first block). So I took out my mic (I probably could have used a lighter) and very carefully (so as not to overheat and melt/ignite the whistle). I heated the plastic feed tube very gently and very carefully (not to stretch or kink). Very gently "gradually" bend the pipe about 4 inches at about a 100° angle. In this way, when placed, the tube does not touch the lid and, more importantly, the force exerted on the feed distribution bowl is much less of a pivot and a more pronounced stress. (Disclaimer 2 - you may not need to do this. It's possible that this pipe/tray problem isn't a widespread problem. Each one by itself may vary your mileage. I just saw the first one break, and then the second one myself If I had known about this problem in advance, I would have heated and bent the tube right out of the box, as it's an easy and logical change). Results. I bought the oversized unit because I knew we wouldn't be using a hot water unit and we probably don't have a "sealed house." Overall it works great. No complaints after one season.
