At least on AMD-based motherboards, the speed is initially set to the best JEDEC profile. (I don't know, on Intel-based motherboards) The nominal speed for these modules is stored in an XMP profile, which AMD-based motherboards don't automatically use. I DON'T KNOW IF THE JEDEC BEST TIMES ARE WRONG BECAUSE I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE RANDOM SHUTDOWN THAT DISAPPEARED AFTER CHECKING THE PSU FAN STOP AND ADJUSTING THE MEMORY TO XMP SETTINGS. (Was my problem with the memory, power supply or even the motherboard? I guess I'll never know)
