I wish I could give it 4.5 stars because it's almost perfect. As others have said, there is no mechanical connection to hold the wire in place, so you MUST solder the connection. But I don't agree with the review that says it won't be a strong bond. I've tried unplugging the connector after soldering and without breaking the wire, it doesn't come loose in any way if you soldered it correctly. The only issue I had was that the jackets completely covered the fork, half the time there was a ⅛ inch that didn't fully close, and it didn't seem to matter what color the cap was, both have this Problem. I used them to extend an existing in-wall speaker cable with factory banana plugs that I wanted to keep. I used heat shrink tubing on each to secure the connection securely so the tiny open lid didn't matter in my case. Suitable for standard banana plugs, see photo. I used a Hakko FX-888D on a 750 with Kester Leaded Solder 60/40 .031″ wire.
