The taste of beef is probably HARD. I had to smash it with a hammer BUT when I mixed the crumbs into the dog food it helped. It wasn't until we ordered to try the Lamb version that we realized it shouldn't be that hard. The mutton variety crumbles between your fingers very easily. I wrote to the company, they said it was ok. The beef gets very firm for some reason they don't understand or seem bothered by my interaction with them. We will still use the product, but not with the beef flavor. It's a shame.
