Review on ๐Ÿฟ Red Nordic Ware Microwave Popcorn Popper: Enhance Your Popcorn Experience! by Tiffany Villavicencio

This is the one! Not perfect, but very close.

I originally bought the classic flat top popper despite reviews of the flat top popping loose during cooking as I wasn't aware of the Pro version. As soon as I heard about the Pro version I brought the classic back and ordered the Pro and I'm very glad I did. That works great! There are few problems with it, probably the biggest one is the size compared to popcorn. Opening half a cup of seeds causes the popper to fill to the brim with popcorn, making it impossible to "throw" the popcorn to apply the spices without spilling it all over the place. So I just pop the popcorn into a large bowl and then add my spices. The second issue is that since I'm cooking popcorn without oil, I have to put some kind of liquid on the popcorn to help the spices stick. One option is melted butter, but that's extra work. I use butter flavored cooking spray which works great, easy to apply, cheap and doesn't affect the flavor. I considered using the spray instead of Bragg's Aminos but it has more sodium than I would like. The last problem is that the popper gets very hot while cooking. There is a flat rim that extends half an inch above the top of the bowl so you can reach for it without burning your hand on the bowl shaped part of the popper, but due to my disability this is a bit difficult for me. This isn't really a design flaw, but something to keep in mind. As for the extra bowl, there are extra dishes to wash, but I chose to just wash the popper from time to time instead of using it every time as there are basically no cooking marks other than moisture coming from the grains is released. and possibly a piece of popcorn stuck to the wall. I don't have a dishwasher so it's more convenient for me. In general I am satisfied with the popper. I was originally looking for a popper as I was trying to lower my sodium intake and the potato chips and crackers I was eating were high in sodium. Popcorn was the obvious alternative, but I quickly found that microwavable packets of popcorn alone were high in sodium, barring the toppings I added. So I went looking for a microwave or air popper and found Nordic Ware. Boy am I glad I did! If my experience is any indication, I can only tell you one thing. Buy it!
