Review on Sigma EMT 4 Inch Screw Coupling by Andrew Young

Easily reusable EMT conduit

Fully cast zinc connectors are best used when living in a humid climate. Some steel connectors are galvanized and others are bare steel. The EMT is not intended for use in adverse weather conditions, but under the eaves, on the porch it is fine, but the humid or coastal climate will give it problems. In such situations, cast zinc fittings are worth the extra cost. I've used EMT light wall tubing in construction and in numerous businesses I own and rent for decades, but it wasn't until I retired due to a disability that I discovered it was a wonderfully versatile material. The first discovery was 1/2" PVC pipe telescopes over 1/2" EMT tubing. Slide short pieces of PVC onto the EMF and then use PVC fittings to build pretty much anything you can think of. Cover it with a plastic tarp for cheap storage (I added a roof and a second floor to a UPS-sized laundry cart to store supplies. pallets and some waffle sheets, and it has a great floor too). Cover it with a transparent resin film and an instant greenhouse. Keep your eyes peeled for garage/real estate sales and grab a pipe bender and you can replicate my latest EMT project. I have a 93 year old neighbor who I "adopted". To make it safer for them to come visit and check out my wife's flowers and other plants, I made EMT arches over our gates and over our driveway to hold our garden hoses with velcro straps to keep them from hitting the ground sidewalks and the driveway. It also gets them clean with a blower since I don't struggle with hoses blocking dirt. These are just some of the things I have used the EMT for besides power. It is easy to remove it from commercial reconstruction (renovations of small shopping centers are the best); Ask your work boss and ask if you can collect materials to reuse. Emphasize that you will reuse it. They are more generous than if they thought you would turn it down just for money. I was given literally thousands of dollars worth of materials just because I was asked to pick up trash. (Get dressed for work, boots, gloves, etc. and they'll be less concerned that you're an unknowing injury waiting in the wings!)
