Review on Professional Grade PreSonus HD7 Monitoring Headphones: Exceptional Audio Quality for Enhanced Sound Monitoring by Emily Myers

Depends on user intent

***Update*** HD9 cans won't close. That's probably why they sound really good but flow like crazy. Why hasn't anyone in the world mentioned this? This thing has seven or eight holes on the back of the cans. They are the size and style you would see if you took the pads off. They have holes on the top and are hard to see, you need to turn the mug over and look at the "seam" part. I still disagree with these banks, but you should consider them semi-open. I need to modify these guys so I can use them for vocal tracking. See first review below, the leak was immediately apparent. *** First Review *** They sound good enough. Either way, it's pretty subjective. I would say that they are next to each other. And they're more comfortable than a whole range of studio headphones that never seem to want to stay on my head or pinch my ears. My head size is a snapback cap size 4 with snap button, 3 without snap button. Now for the shady stuff. It's not noise canceling at all. Obviously it's not active noise cancellation, but you'll hear noise if someone is in the same room as you. I mean, I can't switch off and ignore everything that's going on without cranking the volume up to an uncomfortable zone. Let's get to the thigh test. Yes, that's the thing, look. Those leaks. I can't believe a condenser mic wouldn't pick up the sound coming out of them if used for this purpose. Pros: Looks good, sounds good, fits/feels very good. Cons: Non-replaceable cable, very annoyingly long non-replaceable cable, leaks both ways. I can keep them or not. To me, this is one of those "not so bad, but not so good" products.

Pros
  • Comfortable, durable ear pads and auto head fit poor
Cons
  • Useless features
