I bought this phone based on Consumer Reports recommendation. This is the first cordless phone I've ever had - yes, I'm (technically) behind the times - and I really like it. But I don't like it, and the reason for that is the volume. That's pretty small, at least compared to my landline phone. If I want to amplify the interlocutor's audio, I have to manually press the side + button before or during each conversation. It's annoying. I have no idea why you can't just set it to whatever level you want and leave it there. That one "error" (because that's how I feel about it) caused me to leave four stars instead of five. Update: Today January 19th I called Panasonic support because I've been having static since I've been using the phone. . But in the last month the static electricity has worsened to the point where it has become STRONG and PERMANENT. I almost threw away my cell phone. But I contacted their live help and the guy asked me to plug the base unit into an outlet where it plugs directly into the wall instead of through a splitter. I did and it works great. Absolutely perfect, better than I expected considering the last few months. Now I understand why CR gave such a high recommendation. Good product. I'm changing my stars and title a bit to give it this rating it really deserves. Kudos also to the hotline.
