Review on ๐Ÿ›ด Crazy Skates Foldable Kick Scooter - Sydney City Series: Perfect Scooters for Teens and Adults by Eric Sharp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice scooter, scrap tires

This scooter is great for commuting or casual trips. Don't think about doing anything else. The deck is extremely flexible, especially in torsion. If you just stand on one edge or the other of the deck, it will flex a bit. If you force the brakes, you can permanently bend the deck sideways. I thought I could at least practice steering on this scooter, but no not really, it's not sturdy enough for this type of activity. Although just kicking and running is quite comfortable and smooth. However, the grips are backwards, so I have to figure out how to change their position or flip the handlebars. I can't just swap the left and right grips because the spring locks force a position that would still be wrong. Forward facing locks are the right grip. Otherwise I'm very happy with what I got for my money. Update [2/12/21]: I solved the problem with the handles, I just used some muscles and rotated them to the right position. Having ridden this scooter for a few months it is holding up well. It's more durable than I thought and everything is still tight as a folding scooter can be anyway. But the rear wheel is badly worn. It has a large flat area in the middle, possibly due to the brake, but at the edges of that flat area you can see little bubbles in the urethane, and some of the urethane has rolled away like an eraser from twisting, I think. I don't ride very aggressively, just ride the bike lanes in my area. Soon you will probably have to change the rear wheel. All in all it was a good buy. Update [05/03/21]: As predicted, the rear wheel has worn down to a hard plastic rim after just a few months. The scooter is no longer safe until the wheel is replaced. I expected them to last a lot longer. I once had an old roller razor that had withstood years of daily use and when I got rid of it there was still plenty of life left. I just bought a bike so now I will use it while the broken scooter is in the closet. Maybe one day I'll look for spare wheels, but most likely the money was down the drain.
