Firewire port. Anyone who has recently bought a laptop knows how rare that is these days, and I wasn't thrilled that I had to give up a great audio interface just because I couldn't find a laptop with FireWire. It turns out I haven't done enough research, because obviously there are several types of FireWire chipsets, and most audio interfaces prefer Texas Instruments. I couldn't record anything without losing my Firepod sync after about 5 minutes. It was incredibly annoying. After several hours of searching the forums, I came across the suggestion of "getting a TI Express card". As a last resort I took this advice and bought this card and it worked just great! After connecting to the computer, it was recognized immediately and I was able to connect my Firepod without any problems. I'm happy to report that I was able to record 2 hours of a 4-channel podcast last night with no problems. Thank you Startech for not having to throw my new laptop in the trash! For those wondering, my system is running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
